About the part when Homer took off Marge's officer hat and started to play around with it. people would consider that to be humourous but was that a promotion of an underlying agenda? there seems to be a message that people are not realizing when watching this show. The creators are saying that females are just as good, if not better (in the whole episode), than males in the field of law enforcement. The reason it was made to be funny was to disarm people from their tenacious attitudes toward the subject. This way they can speak their mind without too much of a backlash from the public. This was done many times before, in history, when people wanted to make political statements that would have otherwise been considered treacherous. What do you think of this? You make a great point. However when people watch a cartoon like the Simpsons they are not looking for the issues they adress but watching it for humour. Though in making your point your are completely correct. |
