![]() Adult Western Animation? I recently watched 'Heavy Metal' a classic adult themed western animated movie (made in 1981) based and a long running magazine of the same name. I suprisingly liked it. It had a good blend of Sci-Fi based action (especially the last part), humor and erotica to make it a weired yet enjoyable watch. First time i've actually seen something on that level from the western world, usually have to watch something from Japan to get that. All thanks to South Park really for their episode about 'cheesing'...... Can anyone reccomned anything like Heavy Metal (other than its sequel) that I might want to take a look at? If you enjoyed Heavy Metal, you might enjoy Bakshi's Fire and Ice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLwcpLMasFo Ralph Bakshi produced a slew of experimental/mature themed animated films in the 70's. Some are better than others. Which ones are better depends on who you're talking to. If you're interested, other films he's done are: Fritz the Cat Other films from the 70's you might enjoy: Plague Dogs Other films of note: Triplets of Belleville Unfortunately the 70's were a great era for cinema where there was little hesitance towards experimentation and exploring limits and boundaries. But with the decade's passing, so too did the maturity of animated features into the current state of being solely the arena of children's features. If you're really interested in looking for current films which explore more mature themes as well as do things that are interesting visually, you really need to look for animated shorts. If you know how to use torrents, there's a user by the name of Beltesassar who has uploaded a fantastic series of torrents collecting some very interesting animated shorts. Look for them on sites like mininova.org. |
